Blumhouse, the film's producer, has tasked Jim Henson's Creature Shop with creating the terrifying animatronics.
Jason Blum, the head of Blumhouse, tweeted to add that the movie will start shooting in February 2023.
Tammi's 2018 film debut, The Wind, is a supernatural horror set in the 1800s Wild West.
Blum and Columbus authorised a script, but Cawthon rejected it because it didn't fit his vision.
“Everyone, including myself, has struggled to write a strong screenplay for this,” he said.
It appears the script has been discovered, since filming will soon commence.
